The daughter of a distant father
You learned that men are somewhere else. Now you are surprised when the ones you choose keep leaving.
If your father was physically present but emotionally elsewhere, you learned that love means presence-in-form and absence-in-substance. You learned to accept the shape of a relationship and quietly starve inside it.
As an adult, this pattern picks men who are technically there. They live with you. They text back. They come to the dinner. And nothing quite lands.
You are not attracted to them because they are exciting. You are attracted to them because they are familiar. The famine is the tell.
Naming this does not cure it, but it stops you from mistaking familiarity for compatibility. That alone will change who you say yes to next.
