What you refuse to see in yourself

The behavior you cannot admit is the behavior that runs your life. Accountability is turning on the light.

The parts of yourself you refuse to see are not gone. They are driving. The refusal is what gives them the keys.

The controlling streak you insist you do not have. The withdrawal you call needing space. The competitiveness you moralize as discernment. Every unnamed part becomes the part that decides.

Accountability is not a personality trait. It is a practice of naming what you would rather not name, out loud, at least to yourself.

The reward is that once you see the pattern, it loses most of its power. What you can look at, you can choose about. What you refuse to look at chooses about you.
