The most complicated father is the one everyone else loved. Your inheritance is confusion about what love feels like.
A charming father is the hardest one to grieve because from the outside, you had it all. He was funny, magnetic, generous with strangers, and quietly unavailable to you.
You grew up watching him give the room what he never gave you, and learning to love it anyway because everyone else did. That taught you a very specific pattern: the men I want will love others more visibly than they love me, and I will call this normal.
