The workplace cost of your femininity
You did not lose your softness by accident. You traded it for a career that could not have hired a soft version of you.
Most professional women I work with can name the exact year they went from the nice one to the effective one. It usually happened after a moment when softness got exploited.
You updated. You started to interrupt. You stopped asking. You quit apologizing before your sentences. You built the version of you that gets things done, and the job promoted her.
Nothing about that update was wrong. All of it was necessary. But it is now the version of you your partner is trying to be married to, and it does not translate.
You do not have to leave the job to reclaim the softness. You have to build a life outside the job where softness is practiced often enough that it comes back online at home.
