When motherhood completed the suppression
You were not warned that becoming a mother would require you to become the least maternal version of yourself.
There is a cruel joke in modern motherhood: the more you mother, the less feminine you often feel. Because modern motherhood, without a village, is a project management role.
You are scheduling, logistics-ing, planning, deciding, provisioning. The list is masculine work performed by a woman who was told she would bloom into her femininity through it. The bloom does not come. The list does.
This is not because you are doing motherhood wrong. It is because the container it is performed inside of is not designed for a feminine woman to survive intact.
Reclaiming femininity as a mother requires ruthless subtraction from the list and unapologetic outsourcing of the rest. Softness is not one more thing to fit in. It is what needs to be protected first.
